In 2008, Ahmed was approached to join the Centre for Diabetes in Ennerdale. Later that year, he joined Discovery Health Medical Centre in Sandton where he began consulting employees of Discovery Health.

Islamic Medical Association (IMA)
Ahmed’s special interests are the analysis and management of Biomechanical and Gait abnormalities, Orthotic and Insole manufacturing, Sports Podiatry, Paediatric anomalies and Nail Surgery. He is also affiliated with several CDE doctors related to the management of diabetic patients.

He gives back to the community by participating in Community Open Days where he offers voluntary foot-screening and assessments.
In his spare-time, Ahmed enjoys weight-lifting, running, squash and is a real gym enthusiast. He also enjoys travelling and sight-seeing.
In 2010, Ahmed decided to work in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, just as a working holiday.
Having an extensive working experience, Ahmed now practices at the Ahmed Kathrada Sports Medical centre in Lenasia (Johannesburg South) and at the Centre for Advanced Medicine (Johannesburg North) in Waverley.
Ahmed now has the above two full time practices and is faced with different and interesting cases on a daily basis.
Extending his expertise in Podiatry, Ahmed has now gone to the next level, by being the first podiatrist in South Africa to own a CAD/CAM (Computerised Assisted Design/Computerised Assisted Manufacturing) orthotic and insole manufacturing system, whereby he ensures that the high quality devices he provides to his patients, are made with absolute precision.
