About Us

Ahmed Mottiar obtained his Bachelor of Technology Degree (BTech.) and qualified as a Podiatrist in 2006 at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Initially, Ahmed worked as a locum for 1 year before going into private practice.

In 2007, Ahmed opened his first practice at Lenmed Clinic in Lenasia. Six months later he established his second practice at the Islamic Medical Association (IMA) Clinic in Roshnee.

In 2008, Ahmed was approached to join the Centre for Diabetes in Ennerdale. Later that year, he joined Discovery Health Medical Centre in Sandton where he began consulting employees of Discovery Health.

Having to be so many places, on different days of the week, took up most of his time.

Ahmed is a registered member of the following bodies:
The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA),
Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF),
South African Podiatry Association (SAPA) and
Islamic Medical Association (IMA)

Ahmed’s special interests are the analysis and management of Biomechanical and Gait abnormalities, Orthotic and Insole manufacturing, Sports Podiatry, Paediatric anomalies and Nail Surgery. He is also affiliated with several CDE doctors related to the management of diabetic patients.

He is a regular contributor to Podiatry talk shows on well known radio stations such as Eastwave Radio and Radio Islam, attends many lectures, courses and conferences on a regular basis to keep up to date with the latest advancements in the Profession. He gives back to the community by participating in Community Open Days where he offers voluntary foot-screening and assessments.

In his spare-time, Ahmed enjoys weight -lifting, squash and martial arts and is a real gym enthusiast. He also enjoys travelling and sight-seeing.

In 2010, Ahmed decided to work in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, just as a working holiday.

Having had a great working experience in 2010, Ahmed then reopened his initial Lenmed practice in Lenasia (Johannesburg South) and established a new practice at the Houghton Medical Centre in Houghton (Johannesburg North).

Ahmed now has the above two full time practices and is faced with different and interesting cases on a daily basis.

Extending his expertise in Podiatry, Ahmed has now gone to the next level, by being the first podiatrist in South Africa to own a CAD/CAM (Computerised Assisted Design/Computerised Assisted Manufacturing) orthotic and insole manufacturing system, whereby he ensures that the high quality devices he provides to his patients, are made with absolute precision.
